L.G.R. is a brand that designs and produces high quality and handcrafted sunglasses and its name is inspired by the initials of its creator, Luca Gnecchi Ruscone.
The collection is a selection of sunglasses and optical frames which are all inspired by African cities and named after them. In fact, L.G.R. was stablished in 2007 after an adventurous and exotic story which began a year before in Asmara, Eritrea, where Luca Gnecchi Ruscone visited an optical store owned by his grandfather and discovered a box of sunglasses which had been imported from Italy 50 years earlier. After having returned to Italy with the sunglasses, the stylist decided to start a business and he was able to re-open the original factory which had closed in 1968 due to the arrival of new technologies and industrial methods. He began a small production of the authentic frame models that would respect the same handcraft original methods.
You can choose among a great variety of colours, frames and lenses which can satisfy every kind of taste. Every model is ergonomically comfortable and realized with Italian raw materials. In fact, the hand-carved cellulose acetate frames are hand polished in three different steps with flex hinges, while the crystal lenses are anti-scratch, mineral tempered, impact resistant and put through various treatments such as polarization, anti-reflective coating, infrared protection, color enhancement treatment, UV protection.
